VS-1 Scores Podium at First National Event!
3 Velocity drivers made their way to Bonner Springs, KS for the annual KDOC race. A great atmosphere and the best competition in the nation have made this one of the, if not the, premier out door race of the year. We arrived on Friday to get the cars dialed in, right away the velocity cars were quick, with a few adjustments, we were ready for qualifying. In the first round Matt Gosch put his VS-1 4th overall with a decent run. After the 2nd and last round of qualifying Chris Baumgartner would line up 3rd in the A-main, with Matt Gosch narrowly missing the main, qualifying 8th. Matt would go on to lap every car but 2nd place in the B-main in order to start 7th in the A! After the dust had settled, Baumgartner would hold on to his 3rd place starting position, finishing behind Nathan Dean from Custom Works and Alan Webster from MurfDogg. Matt would eventually claw his way to 6th. A great showing for one of the biggest races of the year!
Matt Gosch WINS round 2 of the WCIS with a Velocity VS-1!
Matt Gosch made the trek to Marryville R/C raceway to participate in the second round of the WCIS series. Hot temperatures, a great track, and competition from factory drivers from 3 other companies meant that this would be one of the toughest races of the year. Matt, mainly known for his driving abilities in the off road scene had not driven a sprint car in over two years, but quickly became comfortable with the VS-1 prototype. The VS-1 is a sprint car conversion kit for the team associated B4 line of cars. Matt put in solid runs in each of the 3 rounds of the qual points format, narrowly missing out on the TQ of the last round. Matt would line up fourth for the A-main. Shortly after the tone there was a mad scramble for turn one, and Matt left with the lead and never looked back.
